* - Notations:

  • The Rank of Fleet Admiral is the highest rank in Star Fleet On-Line. The Fleet Admiral is the Commander - in - Chief of Star Fleet On-Line.

  • Any Rank of Admiral (Admiral, Vice Admiral, or Rear Admiral) is a rank that is appointed by the Fleet Admiral and / or the Vice Fleet Admiral. Officers serving in a Rank as an Admiral (of any grade) can have that rank removed or added, for any reason, and moved to another rank not to go below Captain. Admirals have impeccable service records and exempliary service.

  • The Rank of Commodore is an appointed Rank given to an officer with the Rank of Captain. Commodore means that the Captain is on a Special Assignment or placed in a variant Role by the Fleet Admiral or Vice Fleet Admiral of Star Fleet On-Line. The rank of Commodore can be assigned, granted, revoked or removed at any time at the discretion of the Vice Fleet Admiral or Fleet Admiral. Should the rank be removed, the officer will return to their permanent rank of Captain. This should not be viewed as any type of disiplinary action or punishment if removal of Commodore status happens, just as an expiration of the Special Assignment or Role. This rank, however, does outrank a Captain in Command Status.

  • The Rank of Vice Fleet Admiral is also an appointed Rank. The Vice Fleet Admiral Holds the Permanent Rank of Admiral. The Fleet Admiral selects and appoints his Vice Fleet Admiral and a Vice Fleet Admiral serves in that capacity at the will and pleasure of the Fleet Admiral. All Ranks above Captain are served at the will and pleasure of the Fleet Admiral.

  • Captains are the most senior officers. Captains most often command star ships or starbases. Captains may also command planetary outposts or serve as division heads for the Star Fleet Bases on major worlds. Officers with the Rank of Captain may also be appointed by the Fleet Admiral to be a Fleet Captain of Specific Fleets or Sectors within Star Fleet On-Line.

  • Commanders are also senior officers. Commanders usually serve as the Executive Officer, Operations Officer, or Security Chief onboard a star ship. Commanders may also command star ships, starbases and outposts.

  • Lieutenant Commanders usually serve as department heads aboard star ships and starbases. Lieutenant Commanders may also be the executive officers on star ships and starbases. In some instances, for very loyal Lt. Commanders and with the approval of Fleet Admiral, Lt. Commanders are granted exploratory Command of Starships and Outposts.

  • Lieutenants are the most common Commissioned Officers. Lieutenants can perform almost any Officer duty on a star ship, save for being the Commanding or Executive Officer. In some cases Lieutenants can even be department heads. In the event that a Lt. Commander has been approved to command an exploratory Starship or Outpost, Lieutenants are allowed to serve as Executive Officers.

  • Lieutenant Junior Grade Officers are junior Commissioned Officers. Lieutenant Junior Grade may be the Medical Officer or Science Officer on a mid to large space station, or man a Bridge Station.

  • Ensigns are the most junior of Commissioned Officers. Ensigns often serve as Flight Controller aboard star ships, or Operations Officers. Ensigns can also serve in relief or assistant capacities to most other positions aboard ship. It is rare, but not unheard of, for a Cadet at Star Fleet Academy to be granted a temporary Commission of Ensign. This is only done in cases of truly outstanding grades.

  • New members of Star Fleet On-Line will take the Rank of Cadet. There are four different stages of Cadet in Star Fleet On-Line. Cadet Fourth Class is a Cadet who has just started with STar Fleet On-Line, never attended a SIM, has not attended a single academy class, has not been moved up in status by the Fleet Admiral, Vice Fleet Admiral, of Chief of Staff. To become a Cadet Fourth Class you have to sign up to be a member of Star Fleet On-Line and e-mail the Fleet Admiral and inform him that you wish to become an Ensign Fourth Class and Persue a Career in Star Fleet On-Line.

  • After attending two SIMs or 1 academy class, an officer with the Rank of Commander or above can elivate a Cadet Fourth Class to a Cadet Third Class. To complete the appropriate elivation, the officer granting the elivation must e-mail the Fleet Admiral and inform him of the elivation.

  • After attending two sims or 1 academy class as a Cadet Third Class, an officer with the Rank of Captain or above can elivate a Cadet Third Class to a Cadet Second Class. To complete the appropriate elivation, the officer granting the elivation must e-mail the Fleet Admiral and inform him of the elivation.

  • As soon as any Admiral or Commodore, The Chief of Staff, or Academy Commendant sees fit, a Cadet Second Class can be elivated to Cadet First Class. Once a Cadet is a Cadet First Class he or she must attend one (1) final Academy Session hosted by an officer with the Rank of Captain or Above. Upon Completion of this final session, the officer will Graduate the Academy and be awarded the rank of Ensign.

  • A person who wants to SIM with Star Fleet On-Line once in awhile, converse with members of SFOL by e-mail and who wants to just pop in when they feel like it but choose NOT to become a permanent member of a crew, choose not to declare themselves a Cadet Forth Class, will be considered a Crewman. There are Three Different Levels of Crewman. The lowest is Crewman Recruit. This is the lowest rank or rate in Star Fleet On-Line. This is the title taken by a person who is a fresh sign up to Star Fleet On-Line. Once the person initiates dialogue with members of Star Fleet On-Line and communicates in discussions, they become a Crewman Apprentice. After a couple of weeks with Star Fleet On-Line and posting dialogue and discussion with members of Star Fleet On-Line the person is a full fledged Creman.

  • A person may also choose to become a permanent member of a SIM and Participate as often as possible, but not want to go through the Academy and Promotions Process. This person can opt to take the rank of Chief once they have earned the Rank of Crewman.
