Loose Ends: Part II: IRC Summary

Briefing Used:

USS Equinox and Voyager are currently enroute to Talos IV. USS Spector is also enroute after being reassigned. Equinox and Voyager are 7 hours from Talos and Spector is 12. Voyager is currently trying to integrate the same technology which was integrated into Equinox.

While the integration process proved to be a comparatively simple process for Equinox, it is turning out to be different for Voyager. Voyager has been unable to sustain a stable cloak and fire weapons for any tactically sufficient purpose. Tactical and Engineering teams on both vessels must fix this situation.

Reed and Rodrigo were ordered to assist LaScott on aiding Voyager's efforts to integrate the modifications recently performed on Equinox. Voyager was ordered to come about to Equinox's position for easy assistance.

The integration process on Voyager was completed finally. It would appear they will have a 1.5 second delay in their phaser response times while cloaked. Torpedoes will work fine but would give away position.

Spector was contacted to begin integration themselves. Abril changed his mind on this.

USS Spector was ordered to meet Equinox and Voyager at Equinox's/Voyagers present location instead of Talos.

Dawson was ordered to transfer to science to do some work for Abril. Abril tried to contact Romulus from his readyroom but was unsuccessful. His request for an audience with the Praetor was being denied. The Computer was unable to comply with the request to establish a communication. This puzzled Abril. With this Abril entered the bridge and asked Dawson to investigate. Dawson was ordered to bring up all intellegence data pertaining to Romulus. After getting Abril's command codes, Dawson was able to comply. This analysis revealed nothing. Dawson was ordered to run some scans to determine if communications were being intercepted. Dawson was not able to determine whether or not transmissions were being intercepted but was able to find out something else. Hadax did not obey Abril's order and remain decloaked until he left Federation territory. In fact, he cloaked and his last known trajectory showed him headed towards Talos. So in essence.. headed for Equinox and Voyagers position. Dawson was ordered to get a profile on Hadax.

Hadax evidently really is anything but what was shown at DS9. He is a vocal dissenter when it comes to the growing friendship between Romulus and the Federation. He is rumored to be apart of the Tal Shiar.

All of a sudden Hadax's warbird decloaked. Abril and Hadax had an exchange. Hadax proved that intel on him was correct. He distrusts the Federation. He feels that the Federation has corrupted the current government on Romulus. Hadax was ordered to withdraw but refused.

Hadax then fired on Equinox. Equinox's hull integrity came down to 90%, Shields down to 93%. Slight impulse drive damage.

Equinox and Voyager returned fire and the warbird was disabled. The warbird after being disabled self-destructed. Right when it was thought the we were done with Hadax and thought we would not get an answer to new questions we may have...

Dawson said:
"Sir, just before their self destruction ... an escape pod (evidently capable of warp) left the Warbird. Head right toward Talos."

Rodrigo was asked to confirm Dawson's scans. Rodrigo was able to.

Abril ordered Equinox and Voyager to proceed to Talos IV. Spector was ordered to follow.

Last Time on USS Equinox:

USS Equinox began being stationed at Deep Space 9 along with Voyager. Both have been ordered to determine what the exact relationship is between the Talosians and the rogue Jem Hadar is. Have The Talosians been unwilling pawns? Are they collaborators? The answer to these questions is the ultimate task for both vessels. To make matters worse is the issue of the Breen interference. The Breen have been rumored to be aiding the rogue Jem Hadar. There is always a possibility we may have to deal with a conflict with the Breen.

Admiral Abril ordered Equinox and Voyager to proceed to Talos IV at warp 6. Before both vessels could fully carry out this order… a Romulan Warbird decloaked. The Romulan Commander was identified as Commander Hadax. Hadax believed he could provide Equinox valuable information to its mission. New insights. The data packet was received after being allowed to by Admiral Abril with some objection from Reed and Rua. The Romulan Commander was offered the possibility of them aiding us but they regretfully declined. Hadax said “I am afraid the Empire can’t spare us for that long.” Abril asked the Warbird to remain uncloaked until they exited Federation territory.

After this, both Equinox and Voyager continued on their course to Talos IV.

Rua and Reed were ordered to analyze the data packet for validity and what information is contained. While they were analyzing the packet, Abril went to his readyroom and looked at current fleet deployment and noticed Captain Shelby was in command of the USS Spector, Akira class. The Spector’s current assignment was aiding Admiral Janeway on Cardassia Prime. Captain Shelby was ordered to change assignments and to proceed to Talos IV because Abril needs her expertise. She had some reservations but was still ordered to change missions. She was sent a copy of the material given by Commander Hadax.

After examining the “gift” from Hadax, Rua and Reed came to the conclusion that the Romulans were nearing success on a device that can cloak while shielded and be able to fire. Prior to this, the closest technology was the interphase cloaking device where several adverse incidents occurred, and so the research was abandoned at that time. This is not an interphase cloak, but this device apparently will use less power than a conventional device that has been used by both the Romulans and Klingons.

Abril asked whether these same modifications could be implemented on Equinox.. putting aside treaty violation concerns. Reed said it was possible but would require complete reconfiguration o f the deflector controls, and will have to tie them into the secondary shield matrix. Rua and Reed were ordered to carry this out. While this was carried out, Abril went to sickbay to activate the EMH and grant him Chief Medical Officer designation for the duration of this mission, until a permanent officer could be acquired.

Abril transferred a log on what was being carried out on Equinox to Voyager so they could implement the same modifications.

Soon, Rua and Reed completed the modifications to Equinox and then were ordered to aide Voyager through communications on implementing theirs.

USS Equinox and Voyager are 7 hours from Talos IV and USS Spector is 12.
